Little Wood Satyr

This little wood Satyr is hard to catch. He is very quick, and doesn’t settle on a branch for very long, often flitting along the edge of woodlands, where the grasslands meet the trees. Their larvae eat sedge or grass, which are plentiful in the wet soil near Lake Superior. They breed from Eastern Canada to the southeastern United States.
