Ruby Throated Hummingbirds

These little hummingbirds come to my feeders all summer. I use red feeders so that I don’t have to add coloring to their food. They also eat mosquitoes (and perhaps other small insects) in order to provide protein for their babies.

They are aggressive little characters and each male seems to have a harem. He chases away any females who are not part of his harem or his children. I try to keep several feeders, so that different males can have different feeders. It is great fun to watch them
